AKITA

Akita is renowned for the beauty of its amazing seasonal changes, especially in spring, when the cherry blossoms of Senshu Park bloom in a magnificent explosion of colour. Besides the beautiful natural backdrop, there are many other things that one can see, do and eat that are unique to Akita. For example, in the Hirano Art Museum, you can see the 'Akita no Gyoji' (The Events in Akita), the largest canvas painting in the world.

Look for an amazing assortment of ski and hot spring resorts located near the stunning Lake Tazawa. With the multitude of places to ski, cycle, hike, and fish, this picturesque area is the ideal place for lovers of the outdoors.

Akita, is also renown for its range of locally breweries, specializing in traditional Sake. Tourists can sample Daiginjo or the traditional Ginjoshu at the historic Aramasa Brewery (established in 1852) or the famous Takashimizu Brewery.
